Who owns the model, and does it keep learning?

Owning the weights is no longer rare. A model you own that keeps learning your approved work, run for you, is.

Provider owns the model · Keeps learning after go-live

Rented, learns from you

The vendor keeps the model. Cursor and Fin train their own models on their users’ work. The loop exists; it trains someone else’s model.

What owning solves

Data is one reason to own AI. It is not the only one.

Yours, better, plannable, free to move.

  1. ControlData stays in your hands. On your machines with Local, or in the region you choose with Hybrid and Cloud. It never trains anyone else’s model.
  2. QualityResults that fit your work.Trained and tested on your own files, language and rules. A new version goes live only when it beats the current one.
  3. EfficiencySized to the task.Small expert models for each job, close to where the work happens, instead of one giant model for everything.
  4. CostA cost you can plan.A fixed running cost instead of a bill per seat or per token. The more you use it, the cheaper each answer gets.
  5. RegulationEasier to explain.A signed Model Deed, a tested release record and a named owner for every model. Designed to support your compliance work.
  6. FreedomYours, wherever it runs. From your own machines to your own cloud, and back. Any open model, and no provider that can change, reprice or switch off your AI.

Questions and answers

What is owned AI?

AI that belongs to the company or the person that uses it, runs where they decide and keeps learning their work. The weights, the data and the experts are yours, and a new version goes live only when it beats the current one.

How is owned AI different from local AI?

Local AI is a general model on your own machine, the same for everyone. It runs at home but does not learn your work. Local is where AI runs. Owned is whose it is, and whether it learns your work.

Should we stop using ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot?

No. Keep them for email and office work. For the core work, on data that cannot leave, a rented assistant is generic, priced per seat and changed on someone else’s schedule. Eigna takes that core work, and you own the result.

Can we leave with the weights?

Yes, and you should be able to. Clients stay for the next release.
